How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings inside Kcal and tap Restore purchase. As long as you’re signed in with the Apple ID you bought it with, the unlock comes back — on a new phone too. Nothing is tied to the old device.
What does the free trial include, and when does it end?
The whole app, for 7 days from the day you install it. Nothing is held back during the trial. After that a one-time $0.99 unlock keeps it going. There is no subscription, no renewal and nothing to cancel.
The scanner can’t find my product
Scanning uses the camera, so it needs camera access — if you declined it, iOS Settings › Kcal will let you switch it back on. Kcal then checks two food databases for the code, and some products simply aren’t in either one. When that happens, search for the food by name instead, or enter it manually once and save it to your library — after that it’s two taps forever.
How does photographing a nutrition label work?
Point it at the printed table on the package and the numbers are read off it and filled into a form for you — calories, protein, fat and carbs. You type the name yourself, because the label read never guesses one. Everything stays editable before you save, and the food is logged in grams.
Labels that print values per serving are converted for you, but only when the serving weight is printed in grams. A label whose serving is “1 cup” or “2 pieces” with no gram weight can’t be converted, and Kcal will say so rather than guess — enter that one by hand. Same if the table comes out blurred or cropped: it tells you instead of inventing a number.
Why do I only get ten a day?
Label reads, photo estimates and written descriptions share one daily limit of ten between them, and only ones that actually come back count against it — a failed attempt doesn’t cost you one. The counter resets at midnight, and the limit is the same during the trial as it is after you’ve bought the app.
Two label photos in quick succession can also come back asking you to wait a moment. That’s a separate short pause, not your daily ten — give it a minute and try again.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything Kcal stored is on your phone and goes with it — there’s no account and no copy anywhere else. To clear things individually, swipe to delete entries in a meal, or foods and recipes in your library.
Do I need an account?
No. Kcal has no sign-up and never asks for an email address. See the privacy page for what that means in detail.
